Giving through securities
A gift of securities is a donation of a financial instrument such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds. You can receive a charitable tax receipt for the fair market value of the gift of securities. Fair Market Value is the value of the securities at the time that Saskatchewan Polytechnic receives the securities.
There are many benefits in gifting securities including elimination of capital gains tax. We recommend that you speak with your tax advisor, accountant, or financial planner to ensure you can receive the maximum value from your donation.
